Legends

Legendary stories were mostly based ancient hero's that fought for their people so they were seen as leaders. They legendary stories were also based on historical events that occurred but they were changed for the satisfaction of the people. Storyteller changed event that happened sometimes adding in order to leave the listeners with .


The mind map shows more of the historic legends from the shaka Zulu of South Africa to Robin Hood of and stories that have been told about these legends.





The 21 century meaning of a Legend has changed and has become more realistic compared to how it was seen before. We now see Legends as notorious people that are highly estabilshed in a particular field and we consider them as roles model, someone that we  look up to or admire. For example in sport a lot of young men considered David Beckham a legend because of what he has accomplished in his career. Some people considered close family member as legends this show how its has changed from storytelling of legends to now having your own favorite legends. 

Myths are more of traditional tales with magical powers or something of a higher power. Some are culturally told to explain traditional occasions like the aboriginal Dreamtime stories which explains the creation of earth.

 









                                                           

   

Brief

For a competition you are required to design two contemporary interpretations of a famous myth, legend or a story. Your final designs will need to encompass a selection of materials and techniques such as: the use of traditional drawing, sketches, digital photography, scanned magazine images, illustrations, typography etc. You must show your idea developments and print screens of Photoshop techniques you have used by showing a step-by-step process with lots of annotations, explanations, and evaluations.

Fantasy is a genre of fiction exploring the creativity of one imagination. It normally includes things of supernatural beings and magical world which we fantasize about but are really not going to happen. Stories like Tinker Bell, Alice in wonderland are thoroughly thought of and created in a way that is enjoyable to the viewers.

Sci-Fi which basically means Science Fiction is also genre of fiction; its represents more of the scientific knowledge of fantasy like the time traveling, things of impossibility. Movies poster like Transformers are a perfect example of Sci Fi fiction because we all know it impossible  yet we still watch and enjoy it. 

I am to design and create a themed Sci-fi digital art image for fantasy magazine.  For this task I will need to do research on the theme in order to comprehend the task and what need to be done. I will look at digital artist that produce Sci-Fi art imaging I will also be looking at different types of research on childhood tales for inspiration. I intend to explore adobe Photoshop, experiment with different techniques.
